Fuel Cell Blowers

As we know, fuel cells can operate at higher efficiencies than combustion engines and can convert the chemical energy in the fuel directly to electrical energy with efficiencies capable of exceeding 60%. Fuel cells have lower or zero emissions compared to combustion engines. Fuel cells can be used in a wide range of applications, providing power for applications across multiple sectors, including transportation, industrial/commercial/residential buildings, and long-term energy storage for the grid in reversible systems.

Wonsmart fuel cell air blowers with dc brushless motors can be used for fuel cell hydrogen supply cycle, because the direct output pressure of hydrogen cylinder is too large so as to damage the battery, so the gas cylinder can be discharged by reducing the pressure valve, and then through the blower to cycle. The blower can also be used to pump air and cycle the oxygen (or air) supply to the fuel cell.

Wonsmart fuel cell brushless dc air blowers can work for many different fuel cell stacks using nature gas, methanol, propane, hydrogen. The blowers used onto fuel cells with nature gas can meet explosion proof standard.

To achieve enough airflow(Generally around 18CFM for 5kw stacks) through a long stack with high air resistance, Wonsmart mini turbo blowers(ring blowers or vortex blowers with compact portable size) have enough ability to hold very big air pressure drops such as 32kpa pressure(4.8psi) for a 5kw fuel cell stack and 100kpa(15psi) for a 10kw fuel cell stack. For a 3kw fuel stack, we can use our compact sized blower WS9290B with maximum static pressure of 13kpa (2psi).

Wonsmart DC brushless blowers are available in 24VDC and 48VDC. We suggest that the customer use the higher voltage version blowers for larger power. The blower power consumption for a 5kw stack is around 500watts. We have standard motor driver cards for all of our blower series with a variety of speed control (0~5V signal, PWM, Potentiometer) and speed output pulse, we also accept customization of the motor driver cards design such as CANBUS voltage, protection, failure model, driver card size, etc.

Wonsmart dc centrifugal brushless blowers for fuel cells which we called dc mini portable gas blowers are designed with high quality bearings and impeller balance to ensure long MTTF above 20,000hours. Some fuel cell units are used as back up power for Telecom base station , so our blowers can be designed with water or high humidity proof in mind.
